Since I was a little girl, my parents told me that life is all about compromises. You can not understand it at that time; you are the spoiled, favorite child, who gets what she wants. Therefore, making compromises is not necessary, whatsoever! Your mom, dad and brothers make your life so smooth, so easy, so without challenges :)
You are in the first grade of elementary school, but you still do not know how to make compromises and get along. In the sport hour, you refuse to play the stupid game of "ALISA-ALISA", so you are punished to go back to the classroom alone. There is only one person in the classroom, struggling to learn the new lesson in math. You volunteer to help her and tell yourself that you feel a way better staying indoors and helping her rather than going out and playing the game you don't like.
You are in the first grade of guidance school, gradually learning how to make compromises. You are undeniably good in math, science and literature at school; in fact, you are always the top student of the whole school. However, this does not help you with the strict art teacher, who thinks that painting and calligraphy should be the cornerstone of school curriculum! So, you compromise and write pages and pages of Persian calligraphy (نستعلیق). Your spend a lot of time doing many different stupid assignments for art class(confession: your brother helps you a lot with those).
You are in the first grade of high school and making compromises is easier for you. You like your classmate Laleh, but she has already had her own friend from guidance school to sit in the same bench. You sit alone in the last bench of the class right behind Laleh. But guess what! in the middle of the year, you have a new classmate and since the only vacant place available is right next to you, you are privileged to tolerate that stinky creature for the whole year. You don't want to tell her that she stinks, you are afraid that you might hurt her feelings and you compromise. You follow all the rules: wearing black or white socks, trying to be quiet and submissive and to have proper hijab " I said trying :)" . You try to tolerate rather to like the subjects like Islamic lessons, ethics, biology and chemistry and of course sewing,.... No way!But you try to.
You pass the entrance exam for one of the best universities of the country; though you are not quite sure if pharmacy is really what you want. You start the university and ironically you decide to work in organic chemistry lab for your thesis!
By this time you have made so so many compromises that it has become your second nature. Sometimes, you can not realize your real desire and intentions anymore. You wonder if you have compromised yourself by making all those so-called right decisions. Sometimes you wish you can return and be that bold, stubborn kid, who knows exactly, what she wants and what she does not.

I loved this post very much! Simply very true about me too! To me you are a rare symbol of happiness no matter how much difficulties you have to deal with. Miss you very much dear Sara!
So happy that you had the same experience. Perhaps that is why we are best friends :).
I believe this kind of stories are typical for atypical kind of individuals, people like us; trying to be rational; however, sometimes PREDICTABLY IRRATIONAL!
